Hello Hoover Rockets,

All of our Hoover Rockets are buzzing about this important event, and we can't wait either! October 5 is the date! Please help us reach our goal of $10,000, so that the PTA can continue to provide the awesome programs we have at Hoover and to support our teacher's needs to continue to make our children's education top notch! This is our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year!

All pledge sheets and payment are due on October 7 in the envelope provided! Early birds turn in by October 5 for extra incentives!

Also, our Paypal account is open to take payments by credit card!

You can find the donation button on this page: http://hoover.livoniapublicschools.org/p_t_a/walk-a-_thon/

For all Paypal donations, please make sure you include your child's name and teacher's name in the space provided! Thank you!

We are also in need of many volunteers to make this event a success! Please consider coming out and supporting the school. It is going to be fun afternoon!!

Important Reminders:
Visitors Badge
Our priority is our students safety and education.  Parents and Visitors must stop in the office and get a visitors badge, before walking down the hallway to a classroom, this applies to the morning arrival time as well.  If your child forgets an item, please stop at the Welcome Table and drop if off.  Our parent volunteer is ready and waiting to help, so you can get on with your day and not have to walk down to the classroom.  Students who arrive late, sign in at the Welcome Table and walk independently to their classroom.  Thanks for your support, as we work to start instruction right away in the morning and limit our distractions.

Morning Drop Off Routine
Even on rainy days, the South Parking Lot is only for Buses and Day Care Vans.  Parents please use the Drop Off Lane in the North Parking Lot or park in the North Parking Lot, if you need to get out of the car to assist your Hoover Rocket.  Our goal in the Drop Off Lane is for drivers to pull as far North as possible, remain behind the wheel, as your child exits on the East side of the vehicle.  This will help keep the flow moving and allow many students to be dropped off quickly and safely.  Thank you for your support.  Look for future signs and cones to assist in this process.

*Student Directory Forms are due on Wednesday (10/5).

*Thank you to Mrs. Gregg and Mrs. New for painting our Wild About Hoover Lobby Windows.

*We are excited to share that next week, Hoover has a Red Wings Assembly planned for all grades on Thursday, October 13, 2016.

Wild About Hoover

Hello Hoover Rockets,

It was a great week at Hoover.   Our 1st-4th grade students have been busy taking the I-READY Diagnostic Assessment in the computer lab and with our new Chromebooks.  We had a sucessful Fire and Tornado Drill.  Mr. O., our 4th grade leaders and the rest of our Hoover Rockets particpated in the Freedom Run.

Thank you PTA for the popsicles after the Freedom Run!

Walking the Freedom Run with Mrs. Hawker.

*Outdoor Movie Night was a wonderful evening for families to enjoy a cool evening under the stars watching a great movie.  We raised over $1500 for Hoover!  Thank you to everyone that participated.

*Our first Spirit Day was also a huge success.  Thank you for donating and sending in those Unhealthy Snacks.

*Look for more information to come about the Hoover Walk A Thon.  We are hoping to beat last year's total.

Griffin and Sydney at the Fair.

Did you know that I have two children (Griffin and Sydney), two horses, two rabbits, a bearded dragon, a guinea pig, fish and six kittens?  We love animals at our home.  Some say we have a farm with our 2 barns, tractor and 16 acres.  When I am not at Hoover, I am home outside taking care of the animals, our garden or doing homework and playing with our children.
This summer both Griffin and Sydney raised 2 pigs and showed them at the
Monroe County Fair for 4H.  We learned a lot about raising pigs.  Did you
know that they gain 2 pounds a day?

Welcome Back!

Hello Hoover Rockets,

We are getting close to getting back in the building.  We are hoping we will have our occupancy permit next Thursday.  The building is looking good.  There will still be painters painting and small details getting touched up during these first couple weeks.  The staff will be working hard to unpack and set up their classrooms.  Please be patient and understanding as we get the building back in shape. Please excuse our mess and know this is not how we usually start the school year.

August 12, 2016

Hello Hoover Rockets,
I hope this update finds you well and enjoying all the sunshine.  I have added a couple construction pictures to the blog.  Things are progressing nicely.  Please continue to encourage your Hoover Rockets to read and practice their math facts this summer.  I know it can be hard.  Maybe try reading before bed, in the car on the way to events or while traveling.  Just 10-20 minutes a day is great!

July 28th Update

Hello Hoover Rockets,

I stopped at Hoover today and got a tour of the progress.  I have added some pictures to the right. This week they are installing the generator, countertops, and the new entryway.  It is so exciting to see all the changes.  We can't wait to get back into the building to prepare for September 6, 2016.  This is the first day of school!  The district sent out a tentative calendar.  I have included the dates on the Important Dates list below as well.

READ, READ, READ
I reminded students to try and read everyday this summer.  It is not too late to start!  My family and I just went to the library and picked out some books this week.  Our Hoover Rockets can still use their RAZ kids accounts over the summer.  Perhaps you have taken a vacation and have some great pictures that you can incorporate into a scrapbook.  Students can write a short sentence for each picture.  This is a great way to practice writing and sequencing.

July Updates!

Hello Hoover Rockets,
Lots of activity has been happening at Hoover.  The new windows are going in, the outside of the building is getting painted, and the new ceilings are being installed.   Please remember that all students should have an adult with them if they come to Hoover to play on the playground.  We have a lot of large equipment and materials surrounding the school.  Thanks for your support.
