It was a busy week at Hoover. Students learned from each other, from hands on experiences and from an expert from the State of Michigan. Here are some of the highlights:

Cyber Safety Assembly
Here are some of the things our students learned at the Cyber Safety assembly
1. What are the 3 KEEPs of Internet Safety? (Ask your child to show the hand motions for this).
• I Keep Safe my personal information—all of it!
• I Keep Away from internet strangers.
• I Keep Telling my parents or a trusted adult about anything that makes me uncomfortable.
2. Who are trusted adults? Someone you can talk to about anything—who is a good listener and who has helped you before–like parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, doctors, nurses, and police officers.
3. Why do we ask permission from a trusted adult before going online? A trusted adult will make sure that a child will go to safe sites on the internet. A trusted adult will also be able to help if a child encounters something online that makes them uncomfortable.
4. What is personal information? Your full name, address, phone number, picture, and even the name of your school.
3rd Grade Fur Trading Assembly
On Wednesday, our third grade classes learned all about fur trading. They felt a variety of animal furs and learned how those furs were used to trade for other commodities.
The Heart of Detroit
Hoover made the news Friday night on Channel Four. If you go to the site below and scroll down you can see the Heart of Detroit story with our very own students, staff and alumni. It is a great story about a Hoover Rocket alumni, his family and the Outdoor Classroom with Mitch Album. Thank you to the Anderson Family!https://mitchalbomcharities.org/heart-of-detroit
Did you know our second grade team has over 64 years of experience combined? They have been focusing on teaching students to write facts from a non-fiction text. Our second graders are looking forward to the Battle of the Books Competition in March.
