Fun Times at Hoover

Hello Hoover Rockets,
We welcomed 80 future Kindergarten Students on Thursday.  It was great to meet their families and to share all the amazing things happening at Hoover.
STEVENSON GRAD CLAP OUT
At the end of the day on Thursday, our Hoover Rockets clapped out Hoover Alumni that graduated from Stevenson.  It was awesome seeing our students look up to the High School Seniors.  One Hoover student said "they are grown ups now".  Enjoy every day because before you know it your child will be graduating from Stevenson.

Mr. O

Jiffy Field Trip
3rd Graders and Mrs. Flak's class went on a field trip to Jiffy.  They have been learning about Michigan made products.
Ready for the tour.

Mrs. Cowher's class using Chromebooks.
First Grade has Tadpoles!
They have been writing about Tadpoles and Frogs.  Now they have tadpoles in their classroom and they have little back legs!

We have one last Spirit Day on Tuesday, June 6th, Crazy Hair Day.
Wednesday every Hoover Rocket will have a chance to dunk a staff member during Field Day.  Thank you for all your support with the Hoover Walk-a-thon this year.  Mrs. Cowher's class celebrated their class winning by enjoying Kona Ice and an hour of electronics.

Thank you PTA for our new Lobby and Office Chairs.  They look great!

Did you know what can you do as a parent to help offer kids well-balanced lifestyle filled with what kids NEED, not just what they WANT. Don’t be afraid to say “No!” to your kids if what they want is not what they need.
  • Provide nutritious food and limits snacks.
  • Spend one hour a day in green space: biking, hiking, fishing, watching birds/insects
  • Have a daily technology-free family dinner.
  • Play one board game a day. (List of family games) The Linns love Spot It and Pie Face.
  • Involve your child in one chore a day (folding laundry, tidying up toys, hanging clothes, unpacking groceries, setting the table etc)
  • Implement consistent sleep routine to ensure that your child gets lots of sleep in a technology-free bedroom
Teach responsibility and independence. Don’t over-protect them from small failures. It trains them the skills needed to overcome greater life’s challenges:
  • Don’t pack your child’s backpack, don’t carry her backpack, don’t bring to school his forgotten lunch box/agenda, and don’t peel a banana for a 5-year-old child. Teach them the skills rather than do it for them.
