Mid-Winter Break
We have Mid-Winter Break on Monday, February 17th and Tuesday, February 18th.

Office News
Mrs. Stempeck is our new support secretary.  Mrs. Stempeck is a previous Hoover parent who has worked as a sub secretary, noon monitor and kindergarten intervention paraprofessional in Livonia Public Schools.  Her email address is estempec@livoniapublicschools.org.  Mrs. Gregg's email address is ngregg@livoniapublicschoools.org. 

Skibinski Wax Museum
Mrs. Skibinski's 4th Grade Students researched a famous person who had a lot of GRIT!  They dressed as the person and shared their knowledge last Friday.

Heart Month

Mr. O has a lot of events planned this month for us for Heart Month.  Family Fitness Night is Wednesday, February 19th at 6:30 pm we will have a Large Group Warm-Up, Six-Station Rotation, Healthy Snack Social.  Come dressed for exercise and fun.  Bring a water bottle.

 3rd Grade In School Field Trip
Our thirds graders learned about fur trading, 3 tribes and    during the 3rd Grade In School Field Trip last Friday.

Livonia Goodfellows

We got a thank you letter from the Livonia Goodfellows for our canned food drive donation. In 2019, they were able to give 3 full boxes of food to those families who asked for food. Our efforts made the holidays better for Livonia Families! Way to show empathy Hoover Rockets.

Cybersafety

With children spending more time online than ever before, it is so important to talk to them about cybersafety. The Michigan Attorney General’s office Cybersafety Initiative (CSI) program teaches children to practice the 3 Keeps.
* I keep safe (by keeping my private information to myself.
* I keep away (from strangers on the Internet).
* I keep telling (if something makes me uncomfortable I tell a trusted adult right  away).

It is so important to have Internet Safety conversations with your child and to monitor what they are doing online. The Common Sense Media website has many great resources and videos related to this important topic. PTSA FOUNDERS DINNER
This week the Livonia PTSA Council hosted the annual Founders Dinner to celebrate PTA members and staff, student and parent volunteers from all the Livonia schools. Hoover selected 2 recipients of the Distinguished PTA award and honored them with a certificate of thanks. Congratulations to staff member KAREN WILCOX who runs the Hoover Kitchen. She graciously lets us use the kitchen for our PTA events and supports us with a smile. We are lucky to have her as a PTA partner. We also want to congratulate our Hoover parent AMANDA RICE who handles the PTA membership. She is a busy Mom who finds extra time to help out the PTA and volunteer at the school when she can. Thanks for years of support Amanda. We know we can always reply on you.

CANCELLED - BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Due to scheduling conflicts, we are not able to offer Battle Of The Books this school year. Our plan is to bring it back in the future.

BOX TOPS UPDATE
Our Spring collection will run February 10-21. Have your child bring in their clipped Box Tops For Education during this time frame. There is also a new option to scan your receipts at WWW.BTFE.COM Check it out! This is a simple way to help earn funds for Hoover Elementary

HOOVER SKATE NIGHT - RIVERSIDE ARENA
Looking for a fun family activity on a Friday night? Mark your calendar for Friday, February 21st. Watch for a flyer in backpack mail very soon!

ATTENTION 4TH GRADE PARENTS – DVD
The 4th grade DVD flyer went home. Be sure to write down your student’s memories from each grade along with a baby picture and 5 photos of your student while at Hoover. The deadline is Friday, February 28th. You can send pictures in an envelope or email them to crystalDeG@gmail.com or ngregg@livoniapublicschools.org Don’t miss out! This will be a wonderful keepsake for your Hoover Rocket.

4TH GRADE T-SHIRTS HAVE ARRIVED!
Each 4th grader will receive a keepsake T-shirt compliments of the PTA. Once teachers organize all the sizes, they will be distributed.
