4.17.20

Hello Hoover Rockets,

I hope that each and every one of you is doing well.  I'm sure that last week really didn't feel like "spring break."  But, I hope that you enjoyed the break and Easter, for those that celebrate.  Today, the teachers will be sending enrichment plans for next week.
There has been a great deal going on behind the scenes.  The governor's executive orders have precipitated some changes to how we are providing distance learning.  Therefore, teachers have been in professional development sessions remotely the last several days.  We are rolling out the "new" plan to comply with the executive order beginning the week of April 27th. We will do our best to make it a smooth transition.  As a parent, I recognize you are dealing with a tremendous amount of responsibilities right now.  We know this is a tough balancing act and we are here support you along the way. Look for an email from the District later today with more details about the new plan.

Eco-Action Tips

Our Hoover Eco-Action Team has created a Calendar with Tips for the Month of April.  Earth Day is this month so letś get outside and make a difference!  Here is the link to the Eco-Action Tip of the Day

Using Chromebooks at home
As a reminder to your children, all district Chromebooks are monitored by software to protect students.  When a student searches or visits a website that is inappropriate in nature, the district will receive a warning with your child's name and exactly what they searched.  As a district, we will be monitoring online habits and will reach out to families if their child has violated these rules. Remind your students to only be on websites and to only search appropriate and educationally related topics.  We have a limited number of Chromebooks so we are restricting it to one per family. If your child needs a chromebook, please email Mrs. Bice at jbice2@livoniapublicschools.org.

When Can We Pick Up Personal Items?
When we are able to safely leave our homes and open the building to the public, we will have a day for families to come to Hoover to pick up medications, return library books and pick up personal items from lockers and desks. Later in June, we are hoping to have a day for families to pick up Yearbooks and 4th grade DVDs. We are hoping these will be done by then. Fingers Crossed!

1st and 4th Grade Parents
If you have paid for a field trip with a check, we will be voiding the checks. If you paid with cash we will be refunding the cash, when we are allowed to open the building to the public. Thanks for understanding.
